Sanford Health in Bemidji welcomes Tyler Junttila, MD, to the ophthalmology team at Sanford Bemidji Eye Center and Optical.

Dr. Junttila attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI, where he obtained his undergraduate degree. He later completed his Doctor of Medicine from Michigan State University, College of Human Medicine in East Lansing, MI. Following his time at Michigan State University, Dr. Junttila completed his transitional year residency with Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND, and his ophthalmology residency with Ross Eye Institute in Buffalo, NY where he gained valuable knowledge and experience. In addition, Dr. Tyler Junttila completed a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and glaucoma. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Tyler Junttila practices comprehensive ophthalmology with a special interest in pediatrics and glaucoma. Dr. Junttila services include basic oculoplastic procedures including blepharoplasty, cataract, glaucoma and strabismus surgery, comprehensive eye exams, diabetic eye and macular degeneration treatment, including eye injections. He also specializes in diagnosis and treatment for a variety of eye disorders such as glaucoma and cataracts, laser treatment for glaucoma, pediatric eye care and referrals for cataract surgery featuring premium lens implants.

He also treats cataracts, corneal conditions including infections, inflammations and dystrophies, diabetic eye disease, double vision, dry eye, eye muscle disorders, glaucoma, macular degeneration, nasolacrimal duct obstruction and pediatric eye disease.

When asked of his idea of care, Dr. Junttila shared “I strive to help patients achieve their best possible vision utilizing the latest in surgical and medical therapies.”

In his free time Dr. Junttila enjoys the great outdoors Bemidji has to offer by participating in ice hockey, stream and lake fishing, camping and traveling.
